How does the move-out process work?
A move-out starts when your tenant gives notice from their portal or when you start one yourself. From there the app tracks the steps: acknowledge the notice, run a move-out inspection, settle the deposit, and finalize.
After itemized deposit settlement, Complete reviewed move-out displays the completed ending and actual possession dates. Open authority and possession review if an ending application is still missing or paused. Confirm the displayed evidence to close this specific workflow using the recorded date.
Completion does not create a new termination agreement, request signatures, collect money or forfeit a deposit. Negotiated endings require their own fresh signatures; existing authority follows the separate reviewed ending process.
If only selected tenants leave, open that reviewed ending record and use Individual departure closeout after the permitted changes are applied and actual possession and keys are recorded. The continuing household keeps its agreement. Deposits remain held by default; Review deposit for that person requires an explicit ownership allocation and reviewed source pages before a separate statement or return can be recorded.
